Weelllll,

The Republicans are using the video as yet one more deflection of their heinous policies and machinations. More back-door court appointments, agency rule changes dismantling all citizen protections, stealing the staplers and post-its, you name it.

They now have a kid prepped as an offset to the kids from the Florida high school. Republicans needed one, and here he is, so they’ll milk this for all its worth.

I believe Sandmann and those kids were taught to hate by their parents. Also, MAGA hats. With that teaching, of course they were there to provoke. Partly it is what teenagers do when in a group, never mind one taught in the way they obviously were. We’ve all been there and seen it before. Most of us were teenagers once.

It is getting WAY too much press attention, at the exclusion of more important news. Once again, the right wins.

Don’t toss those great old hifi speakers you once loved but that suffer from foam rot. I went with SimplySpeakers and their kit brought my old Advent /1 speakers back to life after 40 years and a tough move from Massachusetts to Florida.

before

With Foam Rot, after move to FLA

after

After applying refoam kit (over a couple of day work, removing, cleaning, gluing new foam, drying time etc.)

Get laid off, decide to retire, can afford Florida. Get to Florida, find out I have cancer.
Hear about the eclipse! Almost exactly at total eclipse (82% here), AND, it starts to fucking RAIN! Clear sky to the north, clear area south.
Fuck the planets, fuck moons, fuck everything!

What the fuck.

Comment I submitted to FCC on Net Neutrality rules changes proposed by industry toady, former Verizon lawyer and newly appointed FCC Chairman Ajit Pai:

“The FCC must not make the proposed changes to Net Neutrality rules. The changes would worsen an already intolerable situation where ISPs control both the conduit and content and make up false reasoning for their continued milking of the public.
The entire cable/internet industry is already the most reviled and hated one in the country. Do not let them make it worse.”

So, Wall street plummets.
Or my ‘retirement’ does, not the Wall Street Oligarchs, they never lose.
Again.
Happy birthday to me!

Trying to root my Samsung Galaxy Tab SM-T520 only finds me websites that seem more likely to swamp me with malware than useful info. But I also wonder if it would be worse than the malware that Samsung has installed.

Trump + Palin +Cruz = OMG, we’re all gonna die!

Chelsea – the Vadimir Putin of football.

Verizon,

Your web pages (the internet thing) are the worst I have ever seen. All your blather about FiOS is a snake-oil sales pitch.

STOP calling yourself a ‘technology’ company. You are NOT.
You are a legacy (and that is being nice) mega corp that thinks that making customers jump through hoops to get even a glimmer of something useful is another way to bulk-up executive bonuses. Your unconscionable piling on of unexplained ‘fees’ and other charges while removing channels and options is bordering on fraud. You should be ashamed to take your blood money. But you won’t be.

And now you and your cohorts will buy up some more Congress to make sure Net Neutrality never happens.

[Post from original draft from 2012]

Android and Windows desktop (at Win7 for me) have turned to PlaySkool interfaces!
Windows has long had (and still does) and enormous capacity to annoy me with its dialog and file open/close boxes that refuse to be resized or show the truly important information. The dialog box that tells you about overwriting files with the same name in Win 7 is even MORE retarded than the one in XP!

Everything on my Samsung Tablet & S5 phone look like they were made for preschoolers and not adults.

Both OSes seem determined to make you do everything one item at a time, as well, with no apparent way to include anything from more than one screen at a time. Is this a System/36?

It is really obnoxious.

“Official whatever of Mindless Fools”
Or some such equivalent. Endorsed products are a joke. Advertising is a joke – let us trick you into buying our crap.

Just thinking of Change.
Everything changes. I have long thought that everything seems to change every five to seven (5 to 7) years, even if we don’t always notice it. And when I write ‘everything,’ I mean to each of us as individuals, mostly. I haven’t really checked against world events, but I would bet that at some level this is true there, too.

For change, I include changing jobs, changing where you live, or even just how you live. Friends move, you change jobs, a parent dies, you meet new friends, you lose friends. Marriage and divorce may not be the change, but they may be close to one. I think that if you look askew at your last 10 years you will see this same subtle pattern. I don’t have the resources to see if this is as large as I think it is, be it sociologically, psychologically, or historically. And when I say ‘askew’, I mean without thinking about how you were effected by it. Think of a close friend instead, if that helps depersonalize it.

Your mileage may vary, of course.

Let me know in the comments if you agree.

Ciao.
